The Professional Flight Training Exhibition landed at the Sofitel Hotel in Terminal 5, LHR on 20 April, with well over 1,000 eager visitors attending.

There were several major announcements made on the day, including a new ATPL scholarship scheme from Bristol Ground School; easyJet launching their MPL scheme with CTC and CAE OAA and the launch of the Pilot’s Higher Apprenticeship. ProPilot were introducing visitors to their new range of ATPL theory iBooks, pilot associations GAPAN and BALPA were in attendance to provide advice for would-be pilots. A full list of exhibitors can be found here.

The day also sported a busy seminar programme, with British Airways hosting two packed out presentations. Others in the programme included Flybe’s Head of Operations Captain Ian Baston, BALPA’s advice on what to consider before pilot training, and Thomas Cook Senior First Officer Adam Howey, who presented Ten things to do before Pilot Selection. Adam explained that the exhibition is a great way to begin to collect all the information you need before setting off on a pilot career, adding, “The benefit of this event is obvious, why wouldn’t you come to the event which has every potential school, scheme and airline and their recruiters under one roof? Visitors can use this opportunity to get to know names and faces of this industry.”

Exhibition Manager Darran Ward said, “I can’t remember that last time so many many exciting opportunities were announced in one day at a PFTE. It is excellent news for the market and students looking to enter the career. The PFTE provides the ideal environment to announce schemes like these.”

The next PFTE will take place at Leeds, the event launching on July 13 at the Hilton Leeds City Hotel. You can pre-buy your tickets here.

We look forward to seeing you there. Follow Professional Flight Training Exhibitions on Twitter for all the latest updates. @pfte_official
