Padpilot launches free Distance Learning Guide for student pilots

ATPL theory publisher, Padpilot, has released a free digital guide for trainee or aspiring pilots who wish to make progress towards a career as an airline pilot while at home during the Coronavirus pandemic.

‘The Padpilot Guide To Distance Learning’ can be downloaded from the Apple Books store onto iPad, iPhone or Mac. It’s designed to help students study productively on their own, with an understanding of how the subjects are relevant to an airline career, without getting overwhelmed by the vast ATPL theory syllabus.

The guide was set to accompany the launch of Padpilot’s new EASA 2020 syllabus ATPL (A) books at the end of March. It contains study tips and explanations of how to use the interactive features within the Padpilot theory books to enhance learning and memory retention.

Now, having received requests for help from those in self-isolation, Padpilot has included additional information for those wanting to use their time at home to prepare for professional pilot training courses, before they begin a formal training programme.

These ‘pre-coursers’ may not have any aviation experience yet, so the guide explains how to build your aviation knowledge, which theory books to start with and why, and which subjects to save for ATPL ground school with an instructor.

“We hope this little guide will help aspiring aviators and distance learning pilots make the most of their time at home,” said Graham Cownie, managing director of Padpilot.

“It can be daunting to know where to start with ATPL theory, but with some structure and guidance, it’s possible to make good progress in preparation for when pilot recruitment begins to pick up again.”
