VIDEO: Pilot and ATC conversation from Emirates Flight EK521 incident

Audio from the cockpit of Emirates Flight EK521, which crashed at Dubai International Airport in the first week of August, has been made available.

The pilots of the Boeing 777 were reportedly attempting a go around, but instead of climbing the aircraft crashed and its right engine broke away. Both the Captain and the First Officer have over seven thousand hours of flying experience each.

“Emirates can confirm that today, 3 August 2016, flight EK521 traveling from Trivandrum International Airport in Thiruvananthapuram, India to Dubai has been involved in an accident at Dubai International Airport,” the Dubai media office said, confirming that the majority of passengers and crew escaped unharmed.

13 people suffered minor injuries in the incident, Emirates Chairman Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum added, while tragically, Firefighter Jassim Essa Al-Baloushi died fighting the blaze, “while saving the lives of others.”
