Jet2 Future Second Officer applications open

British airline Jet2 has opened applications for its Future Second Officer programme.

The programme exists in order for Jet2 to find potential future flight crew, with applicants required to hold a frozen airline transport pilots licence (fATPL) by the time they apply. The programme will see the successful applicants bonded with the company and provided with a funded type rating onto either the Boeing or Airbus fleets that the airline operates.

Jet2 says that, “You will spend 20-weeks experiencing life in various teams at our Leeds commercial and operational headquarters as well as spending time in one of our bases.  You will shadow and work alongside the people that make Jet2.com a multi award-winning airline as well as training and operating as Cabin Crew.

The requirements for the positions include:

  • Valid UK Part-FCL issued Pilot’s Licence
  • Valid UK issued Class 1 Medical – minimum of 6 months validity when joining
  • Completed an APS MCC course, or an individual Jet Orientation Course (JOC) & Multi Crew Co-operation course (MCC)
  • Advanced UPRT completion certificate
  • Strong ATPL results and training record
  • Successful completion of a Multi-Engine Instrument Rating (ME-IR)
  • The unrestricted right to work in the UK
  • Flying ‘currency’ through training and/or regular flying.

Reflecting the time it takes in order to complete many steps listed above, Jet2 has outlined two dates throughout the year, by which time applicants who don’t already hold an fATPL should expect to do so.

For the July intake of pilots, applicants must hold all the above by 14 June, or 23 August for the October intake. Applications must be made by 13 May for the July intake or 2 August for the October intake.
