Thomas Cook Airlines is to hire four pilots from CTC Aviation’s airline placement pool of newly qualified pilots.
Tim Cheal, General Manager Training for Thomas Cook Airlines confirmed that the four pilots to commence their type rating would be Joseph Cammell, Dean Corbin, William Sharp and Georgie Sweeney. He added, “We were extremely impressed by the quality of the CTC WINGS graduates we met. They passed the entry standards for Thomas Cook Airlines UK by some margin and we are delighted they will be joining our team.”
Between 2003 and 2008 Thomas Cook Airlines employed 47 of the CTC Wings programme’s graduate pilots. The airline currently operates with a workforce of 2,500 employees from 10 bases.
Martin Hunt, Chief Operating Officer – Ab initio Training (Europe) for CTC Aviation, oversees the training of all pilots through the company’s CTC WINGS airline pilot career programme. He explained, “Thomas Cook Airlines was one of CTC WINGS’s launch Partner airlines and 12 years on it is great to see our graduates still being given the opportunity of their first airline job with such a long-standing Partner.”
Dean Corbin, one of the four selected to join Thomas Cook Airlines in this intake, completed his CTC WINGS training late in 2014. He said, “The first few weeks of type rating training have proven that the airline-focused training I’ve received to date has prepared me well and CTC Aviation’s airline resourcing team has been excellent; ensuring I landed the job of my dreams. The team at Thomas Cook Airlines has also been really supportive of us and I’m very pleased to be joining such a great airline. I can’t wait to get airborne now!”
