Pilots from West Atlantic Airlines, the UK-based European cargo airline, and Norwegian Air Shuttle will be represented at work and at a national and international level by the British Airline Pilots’ Association (BALPA).
A recognition agreement has been signed between the BALPA and Norwegian Air Shuttle managers, which has a team of more than 120 pilots operating out of Gatwick and employed by OSM Aviation.
ACAS, the independent Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service has also confirmed that the majority of West Atlantic pilots have also joined BALPA.
BALPA General Secretary Jim McAuslan said, “BALPA is proud to welcome West Atlantic and Norwegian Air Shuttle pilots into the 9,000-strong UK pilot family. Our new members will now have professional BALPA support at work, through constructive and effective representation, and a national and international voice on major issues such as fatigue, flight safety and pensions.”
