A statement from FTEJerez said, “We are looking for high calibre, motivated individuals who are keen to work for Europe’s largest regional airline with 171 routes serving 16 countries, operating from a total of 87 departure points, 34 UK and 53 European airports.”
In addition, those successful for the scheme will receive sponsorship from Flybe of £23,760.00, repayable out of salary over the first five years of employment.
When questioned about the fact more than 200 pilots have left Flybe in the last 14 months, Flybe’s Head of Recruitment Captain Ian Baston explained more about the airline’s current recruitment plans. “That’s just how fast this industry moves. We were caught on the hoof at the end of 2013, and had no choice but to restructure, to build confidence in the business. 200 pilots took voluntary redundancy and we reduced our entire workforce significantly; these restructuring moves generated cash and confidence from the city. But we have turned a corner and have now shown we can move forward as a company. Pilot recruitment at Flybe will be increasing from now on.”
