Cityjet partners Irish company in pilot training

Cityjet, the Irish European regional airline, has entered into an arrangement with Simtech Aviation, a north Dublin-based aviation training company to undertake the training of new pilots joining the airline.

Six pilots hired by Cityjet to deal with increased demand across its routes in Europe will begin training with Simtech in May as part of the approved training process for civilian pilots. In total, 22 newly-recruited pilots, who already have commercial pilot licences, will undergo flight training this year for Cityjet with Simtech Aviation at its flight simulator facility at St. Margaret’s, North County Dublin. The pilots will be trained on the RJ85 aircraft, the airline’s workhorse on its routes.

Cityjet Executive Chairman, Pat Byrne, said, “Since January we have engaged Simtech to undertake flight simulation training as part of the process in producing qualified civilian pilots for our aircraft. By partnering with Simtech, we now have a more streamlined and efficient training process to cater for our increased pilot training requirements.”

Byrne added, “We currently employ 150 pilots but we require additional pilots to deal with our expanding route network and flight frequency.”
